S.M.R.E. Engineering is a dynamic Italian company built on a young and strongly motivated group of highly skilled professionals, specialized in the development and construction of hi-tech machinery and industrial production lines – Hi-tech Manufacturing Solutions as we like to call them.
The company was founded by Samuele Mazzini, currently majority share holder and CEO. After extensive experience in design, development and construction of industrial machines for other engineering companies, Mr Mazzini decided to start his own business in 1999. Right from the beginning the focus has been on automation, whereby Mr Mazzini’s acquired skills in robotics and mechatronics – the combination of electronics, mechanics, software and control engineering – were used to develop and build machinery to increase production output and improve the quality of the manufactured products. After more than a decade of designing and building quality machinery, the company has grown to employ 40 highly skilled professionals.

Construction of automated cutting machinery: multiple tool fixed bed cutting plotters and conveyors, stationary cutting tables, water jets, plasma cutters.

Construction of automated welding and bonding machines for technical fabrics: with hot air, Rotosonic (ultrasonic) or liquid glue (hot melt) technology.

Construction of automated machines for the industry of awnings, sun shades, blinds, and insect screens: cutting, hot air welding, liquid glue bonding and sewing machinery.

Construction of automated machinery for the processing of PVC and industrial fabrics, for the industry of tension structures, shade sails, truck covers, industrial textile covers in general: cutting and hot air welding machines.

Multiple roll bonding and cutting solutions: S.M.R.E. has seen a trend in end customers requiring an integrated multiple roll fabric bonding and cutting solution in a continuous flow. We have extensive knowledge of bonding and of cutting technologies. The SM-450-SA system integrate both technologies in a high speed, continuous production process.

Research & development
First and foremost, S.M.R.E. is an engineering company. An important part of the yearly budget is invested in Research & Development and the company holds numerous patents for technologies that were first developed and tested, then installed in the machines. The force of S.M.R.E. is in fact the development and application of new, creative technological solutions. Our aim thereby is to optimize productivity, by uniting traditional and new manufacturing technologies, by integrating mechanics, pneumatics, electronics and software with hi-tech cutting, bonding and sewing solutions.
Tailor made solutions
Our customers are the focus point of what we do. S.M.R.E. has created a company culture in which the key element is understanding what our costumers need. S.M.R.E. machinery not only distinguishes itself because of its high quality and its revolutionary technology, but also because it is often tailor made according to the specific requirements of our customers. Our standard machines, with their modular structure, are available in various dimensions and can be equipped with a wide range of tools, accessories and software, to satisfy the specific production requirements of every single customer. Besides the standard machinery, S.M.R.E. Engineering specializes in the development of custom made solutions.
With its flat organizational structure, the company is characterized by its great flexibility and fast decision making. When it comes to developing new, tailor made machinery and production lines for our customers, technical and economical feasibility are quickly analyzed, and a preliminary project is created.
Depending on the complexity of the project, the average lead time for tailor made machinery is 60 days.

We have a longstanding experience and a profound knowledge of the industries that we operate in, and know the challenges that manufacturers – our customers – are facing. A large part of our yearly turnover comes from companies that already work with our machinery and purchase a second or a third machine. This fact gives us the confidence that our machines perform very well and do what they were intended to do: simplify the job while optimizing production in terms of quality, quantity, and cost.

S.M.R.E. machines are 100% designed, developed, constructed, assembled and tested in our plant near Perugia, in the heart of Italy.
