Project: Conversion of vehicles with hydrostatic transmission and endothermic engine into zero emission vehicles.
This was an ambitious project and S.M.R.E. dedicated substantial resources to this end. The goal was to create a complete vehicle that could work in confined spaces, such as tunnels, for up to 12 hours uninterruptedly, and which would provide the same performance as a standard vehicle with diesel engine. The 2.6 ton batteries installed, the custom designed engines, and the dedicated electronics have been honed to give performance that exceeds the expectations: driving speeds of 40km/h, lift capacity of 2.5 tons at a height of 6 meters.
The project included the design and proportioning of the engine used to drive the vehicle, the proportioning the pump motor to run applications such as 4-wheel steering, management of the lift system, and all other automotive equipment (i.e. lights, directionals, etc).
S.M.R.E. had been applying the drive-by-wire or brake energy recovery and storage systems way before people began buzzing about them since their debut in grand prix motorcycle and car racing.
Two versions of this vehicle have been built and presented at industry trade shows both in Italy and abroad, receiving numerous accolades.
