For the high precision processing of leathers and artificial leathers, S.M.R.E. developed a series of dedicated plotters which can simultaneously install all the instruments necessary for quality leather cutting: a motorized cutting blade, a drag knife, a rotary blade, punching tools in various sizes, and a marking pen. A powerful vacuum turbine secures the fabric in place during the cutting and marking cycle, guaranteeing extreme precision. As an option, S.M.R.E. offers a camera that projects the shapes that are to be cut on the cutting surface, so that the operator can choose which part of the leather is to be used. With the dedicated Easy Works Xtreme software cutting of even very complex shapes becomes extremely easy and efficient.
Alternatively to blade cutting, S.M.R.E. has extensively experimented with laser cutting tools on leathers. With “Tracking Power Control” (TPC) – a technology that adjusts the power of the laser beam according to the characteristics of the material that is cut and synchronizes the power of the laser tool to with its speed – lasers are extremely suitable for the processing of leather. Whenever the laser reaches a “dead” point – a curve or an angle where the beam has to make a turn and move in another direction – the power of the laser beam will drop, preventing the processed material from getting overheated. TPC-technology assures extremely high cutting quality, even when performing complex geometries or when the cutting cycle is interrupted and then resumed. TPC-technology makes truly extraordinary cutting quality possible on materials such as leather, for which laser cutting is commonly thought impossible. |
