SM-360-TA is a multiple tool pantograph designed to process a wide range of materials, from wood and leather, to Plexiglas, Forex, Kapa-mount and cardboard. This high performance cutting, milling, marking and etching plotter was specifically designed to simultaneously install a great number of tools in different combinations, thus overcoming a common problem in many modern small or medium businesses - the need to process many materials with very different characteristics.
Among the tools that can be installed on this plotter are rotary blades, drag knives, creasing heads, a motorized cutter, an oscillating cutter, a punching tool, a CO2 laser cutter, a galvanometric CO² laser marker, a milling head and a hot-melt gluing kit.
A perfect example of a multiple tool installation is the combination of a cutting laser on one side of the tool bridge, while a milling head is installed on the other side. While the laser cuts the Plexiglas on one side of the table, the operator places a sheet of Forex, wood, or other material on the other side. As soon as the laser is done cutting the Plexiglas, the operator activates the milling head and, while the machine does the milling job, takes the Plexiglas off of the other side of the cutting frame. A powerful vacuum turbine secures the processed material to the working surface so that it will not move during the cutting cycle. Sectioning of the vacuumed surface is optional.
S.M.R.E. has extensively experimented with laser cutting tools on this machine. With “Tracking Power Control” (TPC) – a technology that adjusts the power of the laser beam according to the characteristics of the material that is cut and synchronizes the power of the laser tool to with its speed – lasers are extremely suitable for the processing of fabrics or materials that are sensitive to burning. Whenever the laser reaches a “dead” point – a curve or an angle where the beam has to make a turn and move in another direction – the power of the laser beam will drop, preventing the processed material from getting overheated. TPC-technology assures extremely high cutting quality, even when performing complex geometries or when the cutting cycle is interrupted and then resumed. TPC-technology makes truly extraordinary cutting quality possible on materials for which laser cutting is commonly thought impossible, like leather, cardboard o paper.
The Easy Works Xtreme CAD/CAM software dedicated to this machine makes the operating of SM-360-TA easy and very efficient. In addition to the Easy Works Xtreme program the operator can select a greats number of working options, like an automatic nesting program that fits the various shapes on the work top, optimizing the cutting sequence and greatly reducing discards. The machines also features a powerful calculation module called the split box that splits very large shapes into smaller, “workable” pieces. The S.M.R.E. software is compatible with all current CAD/CAM programs available on the market and can import and manage files written in DXF and EPS formats. For quality 3 dimensional milling, the machine can install “Art Cam” software.
SM-360-TA can install the multiple tool Hi-Tech Cutting Head (HTCH). With the HTCH installed on one side of the bridge with a rotary blade, a drag knife, a punching tool, a marker pen, a laser pointer and the Digi-View camera, this pantograph can simultaneously install a powerful 2,2 kW milling head as well as a laser cutter on the other side of the bridge, for a total number of 8 tools on one single plotter.
The available scanning and projection systems complete this plotter, and make the SM-360-TA an extremely versatile instrument that meets the needs of both industrial and artisan production.

Motion is created by brushless servomotors running on super strong steel racks and controlled by industrial CNC with ISO programming.
The dynamic cutting frame, or zero-point - the point where the machine starts to cut - can be chosen by the operator, manually or on the computer, thus enabling the machine to process not only fabric of the roll, but discard sheets as well.
An automatic grip-and-pull system for spreading the material on the worktop makes for a fully automated cutting cycle, reducing the need for intervention of an operator to a minimum.
Specifically developed software makes production simple and efficient. Besides the Easy Works Xtreme CAD/CAM, a nesting software and a split box for XXL shapes are available, as well as a series of custom made macro’s.
