Easy Works Xtreme is a powerful CAD/CAM design program specifically developed to turn the S.M.R.E. plotters into highly efficient cutting and marking tools. Easy Works automatically calculates the cutting sequence: the fastest and most efficient way of cutting one shape after the next. When shapes are placed next to the other and overlapping lines occur, the program automatically eliminates double lines, preventing the same cuts to be performed twice. When the machine is equipped with the additional combined pressing bars group for "breathing" fabrics, Easy Works will manage the direction of the cut, guaranteeing a perfect quality on the otherwise difficult to process fabrics. The software offers the possibility to choose a new, dynamic “zero” point: the position of the lower left angle of the cutting frame can be freely chosen by the operator, an option especially useful when cutting materials that are not of the same quality everywhere – for example leather or natural fabrics –, when left over pieces of fabric are placed on the cutting table, or in general when fabrics are not cut off of the roll. Another important feature is that the Easy Works Xtreme software automatically adjusts the entry and exit points of the rotary blade, compensating for the radius of the tool that is used, thus making sure the cutting lines in angles will not cross each other. Easy Works will memorize the most efficient settings for every cutting job, including the type of tool that is to be used, the acceleration and the cutting speed, so that it is very easy to repeat a cutting job: the operator simply chooses the memorized settings and the machine will automatically set the parameters. Easy Works Xtreme can import data from a company network, it can upload orders from a database or a flash memory stick, or the patterns can be designed and programmed directly on the computer included with the machine. Additional nesting and split box modules and a series of custom macros are available to further optimize the manufacturing process and completely automate the cutting job. Easy Works Xtreme was designed to read drawings created with CAD/CAM programs in the universally used DXF and EPS formats and quickly translate these drawings into cutting files.
When Easy Works is installed on a machine, S.M.R.E. recommends that Windows XP Professional is installed on an office computer.
Automatic nesting module for complex shapes
When more than one single (complex) shape has to be cut, the S.M.R.E. nesting program will calculate the most efficient way to fit the shapes inside the cutting frame, and cut as many pieces out of the available fabric as possible. The nesting module fits the shapes like a puzzle, reducing discards to an absolute minimum. Nesting will also calculate the ideal cutting sequence, so that the cutting job can be carried out as fast as possible. Another important feature of the nesting module is that it will take into account the direction in which the patterns are placed onto the worktop. On some fabrics, like carpets, the fibers are oriented in a certain direction, causing it to have a slightly different color or shine depending on whether it is looked at from one side or from another. By simply clicking a flag on the computer screen, the nesting software can be programmed so that – when it calculates how to get as many shapes as possible from the material that is spread on the work top – all shapes are oriented in the same direction. If – because of the nature of the fabric or of the manufactured end product – this feature is not important, the operator can simply unflag this option, and the shapes will simply be placed in the most efficient way, without taking into account the directions in which the shapes are placed.
